OPEN WATER SWIMMING - KNOW THE DANGERS

As temperatures continue to rise, open water might look inviting but it can be dangerous and even deadly.

⚠️ Hidden Dangers in Open Water

💧Cold Water Shock: Even on hot days, open water can be cold enough to cause your body to seize up, making it hard to breathe or swim.

💧Strong Currents & Tides: Rivers, lakes, and the sea can have powerful undercurrents that are invisible from the surface.

💧Unknown Depths & Hazards: Sudden drop-offs, weeds, and submerged objects can trap or injure swimmers.

💧No Lifeguards: Most open water spots are unsupervised—help may not arrive in time.

☀️ Stay Safe This Summer

💧Swim only in designated, supervised areas.

💧Never swim alone—always have a buddy.

💧Avoid alcohol before or during swimming.

If you see someone in trouble, call 999 — don’t enter the water yourself.

Let’s enjoy the summer safely. Share this message and help save lives.
